Robinson Seafari

A completely new half day tour that takes you back to nature and away from people. Join one of our speed boats (max 4 persons only) for an exclusive Seafari to an untouched, unique and sacred area of Kenya’s south coast. The trip starts late morning (according to tides) at the Aqualand base situated at Pinewood Village on Kinondo beach; from there you will cruise past the ancient and sacred rainforest of Kaya Kinondo (Swahili Kaya-Home) towards Gazi Bay and Chale Island. The shallow and clear waters of this area offer some excellent snorkeling and fun diving with an abundance of reef fish and if you are lucky, some friendly resident dolphins.

After soaking up the sun and warm Indian Ocean, your own personal chef will prepare a lunch of grilled fresh fish, chicken, fresh salads and fruit “Robinson Crusoe Style”. The sacred area of the Kinondo Kaya offers a superb and remote setting for an afternoon of pure and escapism. Kinondo Kaya although uninhabited, is owned and managed by the local community of Diego people, as such it has escaped all forms of development save for the lighthouse which warns ships of its pronounced rocky shores.

It has been used by the local people for centuries for religious and cultural purposes and remains sacred and pure for all those who visit. After lunch you are free to explore the Kaya with an experienced and knowledgeable local guide who will explain the importance and cultural significance of this special and remote area. A Part of all clients’ fees are returned to the Chale/Kinondo community project for the preservation and conservation of this unique area. The fund is managed by the National Museums of Kenya. The price includes snorkeling/diving equipment, tuition, adequate soft drinks and lunch. Kids under 10 years ½ price, kids under 2 years not recommended. A minimum of three adults (or equivalent kids) is required to book the tour. Take special care for sun protection, T shirts for snorkeling recommended. All equipment is included.
